MRT-7 Right-of-Way Cost Soars to ₱9.5 Billion, Raising Budget Concerns
According to a One News PH report, the right-of-way cost for the MRT-7 project has jumped from ₱1.5 billion to ₱9.5 billion. The increase is attributed to delays that drove up compensation costs for the rail line connecting Quezon City to Bulacan. This cost surge matters for Quezon City residents because MRT-7 is a major transit line expected to serve about 800,000 passengers daily and ease traffic along the QC-Bulacan corridor. The higher right-of-way expense could strain the project budget and affect timelines for the planned full opening. The 22.8-kilometer MRT-7 line will have 14 stations running from San Jose Del Monte, Bulacan to North Avenue, Quezon City. The project is reported to be more than 80 percent complete, with full operations targeted for the second quarter of 2027.
