DENR Clears 1,255 Sacks of Waste from Metro Manila Waterways
The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) has collected 1,255 sacks of garbage from 27 clogged waterways across Metro Manila, including areas in Quezon City, following heavy rains from the southwest monsoon. The cleanup aims to reduce flood risks in the region. This cleanup directly affects Quezon City residents by helping prevent street flooding during the rainy season, which disrupts daily commutes and poses safety risks. It also highlights the importance of proper waste disposal to keep drainage systems functional. The DENR personnel are working across 27 waterways in the National Capital Region, with the collected waste totaling 1,255 sacks so far. Residents can report clogged waterways or participate in community cleanups by contacting their local DENR office or barangay hall.
