Michelin-trained chef Oliver Buenviaje is launching Seafood 8, an elevated dampa-style seafood restaurant at World Kitchens in Gateway Mall 2, Araneta City, Cubao, Quezon City, set to open in August 2026. This brings a refined take on the beloved Filipino dampa dining experience to a major QC dining destination, offering residents access to Michelin-level seafood cuisine in a casual setting at a convenient transit-oriented location. Located at Level 4, Gateway Mall 2, General Araneta, Cubao; features market-fresh seafood, open kitchens, live displays, and eight signature sauces; part of World Kitchens multi-cuisine restaurant with 15 specialized kitchens; accessible via MRT Cubao Station and major jeepney/bus routes.
Background
The dampa concept is a Filipino seafood dining tradition where customers select fresh seafood from a market and have it cooked to order. Chef Oliver ‘Oli’ Buenviaje, who trained in Michelin-starred kitchens abroad, returns to the Philippines to modernize this concept through Seafood 8 by Olio’s. World Kitchens at Gateway Mall 2 is a unique full-service restaurant housing 15 distinct culinary kitchens run by international and local chefs, opened in 2025 as a new dining landmark in Araneta City.
